Information Minister mourns Garkuwan Kontagora, Ibrahim Wali
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed profound sadness over the death of prominent Niger State political figure, community leader and philanthropist, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, the Garkuwan Kontagora.
Idris described the late Wali as a close associate, trusted friend and distinguished son of Niger State whose life was defined by generosity, loyalty and a strong commitment to the progress and wellbeing of his people.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday, the minister said the death of Wali was a personal loss to him and a painful one for the people of Kontagora Emirate and Niger State.
“I have received with profound sadness the news of the passing of my dear friend and brother, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, the Garkuwan Kontagora. His death is a deeply personal loss to me and a painful one for the people of Kontagora Emirate and Niger State,” Idris said.
The minister said Wali distinguished himself through years of service to his community, using his influence and resources to support the people and promote causes aimed at improving their lives.
According to him, the deceased was “a man of the people in the truest sense,” who understood that privilege and influence came with the responsibility to uplift others.
Idris noted that Wali touched many lives through his philanthropy, support for education, empowerment of the less privileged and commitment to the development of his community.
He also commended the late Garkuwan Kontagora for carrying out his traditional responsibilities with dignity and devotion, saying he remained closely connected to the aspirations of the people and was a respected voice on issues affecting Kontagora Emirate and Niger State.
“I will personally miss his friendship, his counsel, his warmth and his remarkable ability to build bridges across different segments of society. We have lost a dependable friend and a patriot who genuinely desired the progress of his people,” the minister said.
Idris extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora and the entire Kontagora Emirate, as well as the government and people of Niger State.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Wali, reward his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus and grant his family, friends and all those affected by his death the fortitude to bear the loss.
