President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the Hausa people as “great pillars” who play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria.

Tinubu stated this on Wednesday in a message posted on his verified X handle to commemorate the annual Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace in Katsina State.

The President also highlighted the growing influence of the Hausa language, saying it had flourished beyond its traditional boundaries to become a major language of unity and commerce across the world.

“The Hausa people are great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria.

“The Hausa language, without doubt, has flourished and has become a major language of unity and commerce across the world,” Tinubu said.

He congratulated the Hausa community on the occasion, noting that the celebration was taking place at the historic Daura Palace.

“I congratulate the vast Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace today,” he said.

Created by journalist Abdulbaƙi Jari, the Hausa Day, also known as World Hausa Day or Ranar Hausa, is observed annually on August 26 to promote the Hausa language, culture and heritage. The observance began as a social media initiative and has grown into a wider international celebration.
