President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to renew his mandate in the January 16, 2027 presidential election, promising prosperity, continuity and progress if re-elected for a second term.
Tinubu made the appeal on Saturday in Kaduna during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Kaduna for their support during the 2023 presidential election, the President urged them to give him another opportunity to lead the country.
“You gave me joy to remember the victory you gave me to become president. I come again to thank you for that, to seek your mandate for the second term, to keep a promise on prosperity, continuity and progress,” he said.

Responding to opposition criticism of his administration over hunger and poverty, Tinubu blamed his political opponents for the country’s economic difficulties, insisting that his government was working to address the challenges.
“I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! They created hunger, they created poverty, we are trying to eradicate it,” the President said.
Tinubu also defended his administration’s economic policies, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, urging Nigerians not to be misled by opposition politicians.
“Be careful; watch them. Don’t let them lie to you. What is past is in the past. Fuel subsidy is in our past: no more corruption, no more falsification of invoices, no more lies, no more smuggling of fuel,” he said.
The President further highlighted regular salary payments and the performance of APC governors as evidence of his party’s commitment to governance and development.
“We pay salaries regularly, our governors are working, I am proud of them, they are developing,” he said.
Addressing young Nigerians, Tinubu promised a more prosperous future under a second-term administration, assuring supporters that re-electing him would bring continued progress.
“To you, the children of our country, it’s a promise of a second term — prosperity; you will not regret going to the votes,” he said.
He also urged supporters to turn out in large numbers to vote for him and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
“Thank you for this massive showing up. It is a promise. Come 2027, January 16, you must go out massively and elect me again,” Tinubu told the crowd.
The Kaduna rally marked the formal launch of the APC’s presidential campaign, with Tinubu seeking a second four-year term amid continuing public concerns over the cost of living and the impact of his administration’s economic reforms.
