The Federal Government has restated its commitment to driving reforms and milestones in Nigeria’s energy sector, positioning the country as a global leader in energy transformation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made this known at the opening ceremony of the 8th edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES 2025), held Abuja today.

The President highlighted the significant progress made in the energy sector, including the operationalisation of local refining, the selection of Nigeria as the host country for the Headquarters of the African Energy Bank (AEB), and the enactment and implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The President, who was represented at the event by the Minister of State Finance Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, emphasised the importance of sustainable energy development, noting that his administration has taken decisive steps to create an enabling environment for investors, including fiscal incentives, streamlined regulatory processes, and robust public-private partnerships.

He said: “We recognise that sustainable energy development requires significant investment.”
