According to a press statement issued yesterday by the GAW Acting General Secretary, Dr. Michael Agbesi Kelly, their two-hour meeting focused on exploring opportunities for cultural exchange between the creative communities of Ghana, Russia, and the world.

The President of WOW expressed interest in promoting indigenous languages to enhance global literacy, saying, “Our work includes translations and publications. This year marks the 10th anniversary of languages in writing.”

Future projects discussed at the meeting include children’s literature initiatives to promote mutual literary understanding between Ghana and Russia, and the third Congress of the World Organisation of Writers to be held in Brazil in the Summer of 2026.

At the meeting, the WAW awarded its honorary membership to the GAW President, Camynta Baezie, and former General Secretary, Anthony Obeng Afrane, for their contributions to literature and journalism.

Also in attendance were some prominent media houses including TV3 Ghana, JoyNews, GhOne TV, Daily Graphic and Ghanaweb.
