The Board of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday approved key leadership appointments and promotions to strengthen operational efficiency and reinforce the Service’s role in Nigeria’s economic transformation.
The development came when the Board held its 64th Regular Meeting, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun.
The Board confirmed five Deputy Comptroller-Generals and eight Assistant Comptroller-Generals in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023 and Federal Character policy, alongside Special Promotions for ten officers recognised for exceptional professionalism and contribution to national revenue and security.

The Director of Information and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Manga, explained in a press release that these reforms support an ongoing strategy to modernise Customs operations, enhance leadership succession and improve trade facilitation, transparency and border efficiency.
“As Nigeria expands non-oil revenue streams and deepens private-sector–led growth, a more agile and technology-driven Customs Service is essential in reducing bottlenecks, improving clearance timelines and strengthening competitiveness under AfCFTA,” he said.
