The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has enjoined the staff of his ministry to shun spreading unverified rumours as they are capable of damaging staff morale and thereby contribute to a negative work environment.

The minister issued the warning today in his address at  the ministry’s 2025 first quarter town hall meeting held at the OSGF conference room, Federal Secretariat, in Abuja.

Momoh assured participants that his doors are open 24/7 for any staff member seeking clarification on any matter, insisting that even if he is not around, his aides would always be available to clarify issues.

He commended the staff for the achievements recorded by the ministry the preceding year and urged them to put in more efforts to be able to meet up with the demands of the expanded mandate of the ministry.

While responding to issues raised by some participants, the minister assured on measures being taken by the ministry to provide an enabling working environment for the entire staff to boost productivity.

The measures, according to him, include “provision of befitting office accommodation and working tools.”

Earlier in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, enjoined the staff to always be guided by the provisions of the civil service rules in the conduct of their official functions.

She urged the staff to take full advantage of the opportunity offered by the town hall meeting to interact meaningfully with the management on issues bordering on staff welfare and condition of service, but however, cautioned them to be decorous in the process.

Issues were raised by the staff to which appropriate responses were made by the minister, the permanent secretary, or the director concerned.

The meeting is part of the ministerial priority initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity and engender good governance within the ministry.
