President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Abba Abubakar Aliyu as the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the heads of the departments under the agency.
The heads of the departments are as follow:
1. Engr. Umar Abdullahi, Executive Director, Technical Services
2. Ayoade Gboyega, Executive Director, Corporate Services
3. Hon. Engr. Doris Uboh, Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund
4. Olufemi Akinyelure, Head, Nigeria Electrification Programme (Project Management Unit)
The appointment takes effect from 23rd January, 2025 for an initial period of four years in accordance with the extant provisions of the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders.
Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said in a press release that before his appointment, Aliyu served as General Manager at the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc and as Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Power on Policy.
He said the President tasked the MD and his team to bring their wealth of experience to bear on providing access to reliable electric power supply to rural dwellers.
