A man suspected of being a ritualist, Yusuf Adinohi, was apprehended by the Ondo State Police Command in Isua-Akoko, Akoko South East LGA of Ondo State, for allegedly possessing eight human skulls.
Adinohi, aged 37, was arrested by a joint security team at a checkpoint in the Ase area of Isua Akoko. He was traveling from Okene in Kogi State to Osogbo in Osun State.
It was reported that Adinohi was caught in a commercial vehicle with registration number LKJ 148 AJ, driven by Kabiru Abubakar.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo, Abayomi Oladipo, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.
He stated that during a stop-and-search operation, the security team discovered eight dried human skulls emitting a foul odor, concealed inside a bag of garri, along with a collection of charms and amulets.
He further said, “Upon investigation, one of the passengers of the vehicle, Yusuf Adinohi, of about 37 years old, admitted being the owner of the eight smelly dry skulls, and that he was going to Osogbo around Oke-Onitea area to deliver the skulls to one Opeifa, a herbalist.
“He equally mentioned other customers he usually supplies human skulls to, including Almonso who lives at Oke-Onitea, Osogbo; Alfaa Agba who lives at Oke Ontea; and also Oshoyemi who resides around Oja Oba area.
“The suspect further confessed that the human skulls were usually handed over to him by one Imaila living at Oboroke in Okene, and that each head was being sold for between N30,000 and N35,000).”
Oladipo added that Adinohi would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for further investigation.
