The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has left out the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Gombe and Ogun states from its final lists of candidates for the 2027 governorship elections.
Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami, who recently won a fresh PDP primary in Gombe, is missing from that state’s list, while Ladi Adebutu, the PDP’s governorship candidate in Ogun, and his running mate do not also appear on the Ogun list. Neither document includes a PDP candidate.
The Gombe list has 16 candidates and identifies Jamil Gwamna as the APC candidate, with Balah Adams as his running mate. The Ogun list contains 13 governorship candidates and names Solomon Adeola as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, with Kudirat Balogun as his running mate.
Each list gives candidates’ names, parties, running mates, ages, genders and qualifications, along with remarks where applicable. Neither document explains why the two PDP candidates and their running mates were omitted.
Their absence comes amid political developments surrounding the PDP’s governorship tickets in both states.
A review of INEC’s website also showed that the final list for Rivers State has been uploaded. It names Kingsley Chinda as the APC candidate, Lulu-Briggs Dumo as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate and Ejekwu Samuel as the PDP candidate.
