The Plateau chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed excitement at the National Assembly Appeal Tribunal judgments that nullified the election of Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Simon Mwadkon and Rep Musa Agah.
A unanimous judgment read by Justice Elfreda Oluwayemisi Williams- Dawodu on behalf of the three-member panel on Sunday, sacked Mwadkon and Agah, both of PDP.
The appeal tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a re-run in 90 days.
It said that the appellants’ appeal succeeded because the PDP did not comply with a Plateau High Court order and that the party’s candidates were not validly nominated.
APC Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Namang in a statement on Tuesday in Jos, lauded the judgments.
Namang congratulated the appellants and beneficiaries of the court judgments, who were both members of the APC and LP.
“We commend their resilience, patience and decision to resort to the courts which remain the last hope of aggrieved parties.
Meanwhile, the APC condemned a statement credited to PDP on the outcome of the judgment.
“No doubt, the tribunal rightly sacked the duo both of the PDP on the strength of the watertight petitions of the APC candidates
“The self-consolatory and nerve-soothing press statement, apart from sounding rather ridiculous, further exposes the PDP as a party that is always in disobedience of court orders,” he stated.
The publicity secretary urged the party supporters to conduct themselves peacefully as they waited for the outcome of other appeals pending before the tribunal. (NAN)
