NASS polls: Enugu election tribunal receives 14 petitions

The Enugu Election Tribunal says it has received 14 petitions so far from aggrieved parties and candidates in the Feb. 25 National Assembly elections.

The Tribunal Secretary, Mr Yusuf Folmi, disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Enugu.

Folmi noted that the petitions were expected to be filed within the stipulated time frame given for the submission of petitions by any aggrieved candidate and parties.

“The Tribunal has only received 14 petitions and it is expecting more,” he said.

He said that the parties that had filed petitions so far were the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) as well as their candidates.

“Out of the number of the petitions filed, 12 petitions are from candidates for the House of Representatives while the remaining two are from the candidates for Senate,” he said.

He said the aggrieved candidates who filed their petitions so far included John Ede, LP; Onwuegbu Anayo, PDP; Okay George, PDP; Cornelius Nnaji, PDP and Festus Amaechina, PDP. (NAN)
