Hon. Ali Sani Madaki, Deputy Minority Leader, House of Representatives
A pillar of the NNPP support group in Kano, Kwankwasiyya Movement, has called for the resignation of Ali Sani Madaki from the position of Deputy Minority Leader, House of Representatives.
This is contained in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Comrade Musa Gambo, on Sunday.
It could be recalled that Madaki, Jibrin Kofa and Rurum have resigned from the NNPP with some oher Members of the House of Representatives and decamped to the APC.
In his statement, Gambo said: “We wish to bring to the attention of the leadership and honourable members of the Federal House of Representatives, as well as the general public, a matter of significant political and ethical concern regarding the current occupant of the position of Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Ali Sani Madaki, member representing Dala Federal Constituency, Kano State.
“Hon. Ali Sani Madaki was elected under the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and rode on the support and influence of the Kwankwasiyya political movement, a strong ideological base of the party.
“However, it has become public knowledge that Hon. Madaki has formally distanced himself from the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the very structure that was instrumental to his electoral victory.
“Given that the position of Deputy Minority Leader was accorded to the NNPP specifically as part of the party’s negotiated leadership share in the House and that within the NNPP, Kwankwasiyya remains the backbone of the party’s political ideology and electoral strength, it is both logical and just that such a strategic position be occupied by a member who remains loyal to the movement and its principles.”
He added: “It is therefore our collective position that Hon. Ali Sani Madaki no longer legitimately represents the ideals and political mandate of the NNPP Kwankwasiyya within the leadership structure of the House.
“His continued occupancy of the Deputy Minority Leader seat is no longer tenable, and as such we call on all NNPP members in the House of Representatives, particularly those who remain loyal to the Kwankwasiyya Movement, to move for the immediate replacement of Hon. Ali Sani Madaki as Deputy Minority Leader.”
According to him, the call was not driven by sentiment, but by the need to uphold political integrity, party discipline, and respect for ideological consistency.
He argued that the seat in question belongs to the NNPP Kwankwasiyya bloc and should reflect the will and direction of that political base.
“We also urge Hon. Ali Sani Madaki to, in the spirit of honour and respect for democratic values, voluntarily relinquish the seat and allow a loyal NNPP Kwankwasiyya member to assume the role, in line with the collective mandate of those who voted the party into office,” Gambo said.
