On 26 May 2026, the day before my birthday, I woke up at about 3:00 a.m. and reflected deeply on my life, in particular, my experiences from May 2025 until that time. In that quiet moment, something struck me, and that became the inspiration behind this week’s lesson.
What you tell yourself matters greatly, both for your present and your future.
If you are always waiting for people to motivate or encourage you before taking action, you may delay your progress. There comes a point where you must learn to encourage yourself and draw strength from within.
The truth is that encouragement is a two-way thing. Some words come from lips, but are not always backed by sincere hearts. Others are spoken from genuine love, joy, and goodwill. Not every motivational voice is pure, and not every applause is meaningful.
That is why the most important voice you must learn to trust is your own. When conviction is strong, external approval becomes a bonus, not a necessity.
Over time, I have learned that not everyone who encourages you truly believes in your journey. That realisation was a crucial one for me because it became clear to me that while encouragement from other people is important, it cannot form the basis of one’s self-confidence.
Read motivational books. Listen to inspiring messages. Learn from others. However, none of these external factors can substitute for the inner drive necessary to propel your life forward.
There will be times when no one notices your work or process. In those seasons, you must become your own encouragement, your own motivation, and your own strength.
Lasting motivation is not found on social media. It is not found in people’s words alone. It is found in your quiet place, within your heart, and in your inner conviction.
The greatest strength is not what comes from outside, but what rises from within.
