Leaders from the North-east geopolitical zone on Thursday reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 general election, pledging to deliver the region’s votes to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The delegation, comprising governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers, and elder statesmen from Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe states, paid a thank-you visit to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The visit followed Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 election.
Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North-East Governors’ Forum, Professor Babagana Zulum, said the decision reflected the President’s appreciation for loyalty, competence, and dedication.
He said retaining Shettima as Vice President had further boosted the confidence of the people of the North-East.

Zulum also commended the Tinubu administration for its interventions in the region, particularly in road construction, agriculture, education, youth empowerment, and support for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
He assured the President that APC leaders and supporters across the North-East would unite to ensure the victory of Tinubu and other candidates of the party in the 2027 elections.
Responding, President Tinubu described the region’s support as encouraging and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the economy, improving security, and expanding road infrastructure.
He said cooperation between the Federal Government and the states remains essential in the fight against terrorism and armed banditry, as well as in promoting peace and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
