The Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) and Driving Park Limited have established the Film Africa Network (FAN) to promote the screening and cross-cultural exchange of African films across the continent.

The initiative, described by the organisations as a novel and historic project, will begin with a pilot screening programme scheduled to commence in October 2026.

As part of preparations for the project, country representatives have been selected in 25 African countries to coordinate and supervise the screening of 10 films previously selected by a panel of literary and film experts.

According to a statement by PAWA Secretary-General, Dr Wale Okediran, the pilot project is aimed at encouraging cross-cultural exchange through African cinema and establishing a sustainable film exhibition network across the continent.

He said the initiative would also provide PAWA with an opportunity to promote the growing practice of adapting literary works into films, particularly narratives written in indigenous African languages.

Okediran expressed appreciation to the Chief Executive Officer of Driving Park Ltd, Ms Ruby Ofori, for the partnership, describing the collaboration as an important step towards strengthening the visibility and circulation of African films.

He also thanked PAWA members who volunteered to serve as judges and country representatives for the project, acknowledging their contribution to the initiative.

The Film Africa Network is expected to provide a platform for audiences in participating countries to experience films from other parts of Africa, while fostering greater cultural understanding and collaboration among African filmmakers, writers and audiences.

Driving Park Limited is an independent production company based in Ghana that creates documentary films, feature films, and strategic communication services. It was co-founded and led by Ruby Ofori as Executive Producer and Edward Scott Jr as Managing Director. Its core services include video production, documentary storytelling, scriptwriting, and strategic media engagement.
