The board of trustees of the Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) has appointed veteran Hausa actor Shehu Hassan Kano as its acting National President.
This followed the recent death of Alhaji Umar Maikudi (Cashman), elected last January as the National President of the association of Hausa film stakeholders.
A statement issued by the Chairman of MOPPAN’s board of trustees, Makama Sani Mu’azu, said Shehu Kano, who was hitherto the group’s Vice President, North-west, was selected and ratified by the board to assume this critical role.
“A veteran actor and respected elder in the industry, Alhaji Shehu Hassan Kano brings a wealth of experience and leadership acumen to this position,” it said.
Mu’azu added: “The Board of Trustees has every confidence that his appointment will provide stability and continuity to the association during this transitional period. We look forward to his leadership and vision in guiding MOPPAN forward.”
