Jacobs, who said she was five years old when she starred in the film in 1985, also revealed that the movie producers promised to pay her when she reached 21 years, a promise they never kept.

She is 42 years old now and lives with her mother.

She now works as a shop assistant.

She said she feels used.

Many people had hitherto thought the child in the movie was a boy.

The South African movie grossed $6.3 million.

According to reports, the lead actor in the movie, Nǃxau ǂToma, who played the role of Xi, was also paid a mere R243, an equivalent of US$300 then, for his role.

Speaking on the development, the director of The Gods Must Be Crazy, Jamie Uys, a South African, said that N!xau did not know the importance of paper money, so he let go of it.
